DAY TWELVE

Many Christians give up on the journey of spiritual growth because of repeated failure. Today we find out, what exactly happens when we sin? How does it affect our growth progress and how do we deal with it?

DAY 12 – WHEN WE MESS UP

Many believers quit the journey of spiritual growth because of continuous failures; they challenge themselves to behave like Jesus, but the cycle of failure turns into frustration which makes them feel like ‘I can never win over this sin, and also God now hates me.’ When they hear the invented doctrine that “the Holy Spirit has left you” it feels like the journey of growth has reached the hard wall.

You are complete in Christ through the Blood, but still being perfected in your walk by the Holy Spirit. This is a journey of growth, and therefore ups and downs are expected. The Holy Spirit deals with us with grace and mercy,” like a father pities His children, so does He pity us (in our failures) when He remembers that our frame is dust.” Psalm 103:12-14

When we fail, this is what happens:

i. The Holy Spirit grieves: It really hurts Him, and that’s why you feel like He has withheld His Presence and privileges from you. That feeling which many interpret as ‘He has left’ is actually a signal He is sending to you that something is wrong and it needs attention.

ii. The Holy Spirit the waits to see your response: After He sends us signal through grieving, He then waits for our response. “What will you do Michael: Will you repent, will you ask Me for help moving forward, will You lean on Me to overcome this? Do you love me enough to persist on the journey or you’re ready to give up everything now?” He expects you to return to Him in a broken and contrite heart, ready to coordinate with Him for better next time.

Don’t give up when you fail on this journey; Proverbs 24:16 says “a righteous person falls seven times but He still returns on feet.” Notice there that even when the person is failing, he is still called righteous. Before our God, we have endless chances; if you have the boldness to return to Him, His hands are wide open as Hebrews 4:15-16 says. Boldly declare like Micah 7:8 “Don’t rejoice over me my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise up again…” Don’t allow the devil the pleasure; rise up and ask the Holy Spirit for help and trust Him moving forward.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father I thank You for loving me; I know that You understand the failures that I’m sincerely dealing with. I thank You for accepting me through the Blood of Jesus. I surrender today to You Holy Spirit, let’s walk together, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death and frustration, may I know that You are with me. I will not give up because I trust you, and I declare that I will not give up. I give in to Your leadership and guidance until You make like Jesus. I love You Lord, in Jesus’ Precious Name, Amen!
