DAY 11 – OBEDIENCE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
How I pray that the way we craze about hearing the Holy Spirit matches the same craze we have in obeying Him! Most Christians are not growing spiritually not because they don’t hear His voice but because they don’t obey. Transformation doesn’t come by hearing, but by obedience. James 1:22. The hardest thing about obedience is that God Almighty gave us the power of free-will –Deuteronomy 30:19 say ‘He sets us the options before us but our decision depends entirely on us’
The Holy Spirit can’t teach you how to obey Him; it’s entirely up to you. He will speak, instruct, guide, prompt, but never force or control you. Everyone knows how to obey; but our choice to obey or ignore depends on how much we love, trust and need that person. We always subconsciously weigh the need for obedience. For example, many of us chose to blindly obey our bosses because we know what they mean to our lives, you know!
Do you love the Holy Spirit? Do you trust Him? Do you feel like you can’t move ahead without Him? If NO, then no one can convince you enough to walk in obedience to Him. If YES, then I encourage you, set your intention to obey all His soft nudges, timely instructions and His Words. John 14:15 says “If you love Me, you will obey My instructions” and completes in John 15:14 that “if you obey My instructions, you are My friends.”
Obedience not only demonstrates your love to the Holy Spirit, but also strengthens your bond with Him and propels you to spiritual growth because every action you take after His guidance comes off as a deed of the spiritually mature.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I thank You first of all for the gift of free-will that You gave me. I’m also sincerely sorry for the times I have chosen the wrong option unknowingly, unintentionally and other times intentionally. Today I chose to obey You; thank You for the grace to walk in the way of Your leading always and at all times. I love You, I trust You and I need You Holy Spirit. Thank You!
