DAY 10 – HEARING THE HOLY SPIRIT
Hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit remains one of the most asked questions on the internet today, and not that it is not being taught about, but it just seems like every resource doesn’t seem to solve the problem. That’s why today I’m choosing to tackle this from an unusual angle that I’m sure will be of help to you. Hearing the Holy Spirit is not dependent on how much you learn on it, rather on the mentality you carry and that’s why we are going to look at 2 mindset shifts today that will unblock your spiritual ears.
Two Major Paradigm Shifts that Unblock Your Spiritual Ears
1. Overcome the Vague Expectation: The greatest limitation to spiritual hearing is expectation of a spectacular show. We think He’s going to write on walls like in the book of Daniel, or physically hear someone whispering to our ears, or show a printed banner in the sky. Let’s learn from the great prophet Elijah; 1 Kings 19:11-12: He expected God to speak to Him through wind, fire, earthquake but the Bible says “God was not in them.” Later on a “still small voice.” This phrase ‘still small voice’ describes something almost unrecognizable, ignoble, seemingly significant but also very peaceful. When speaking to you personally, most times He uses this. However, this is not rule out the fact that the splendor is also possible, but I encourage you not to place all your faith in only that every time.
2. Leave it up to Him: No one can ever be 100% sure of which method the Holy Spirit will speak through at each time. Whether by splendor, dreams, prophetic ministry, the Word, in a sermon, a song, during prayer, still small voice, etc. In fact, waiting on Him from one angle is what actually makes us miss Him – He is unpredictable! We only need to do our part (of talking to Him) and raising our faith that He will speak, and then leave the method up to Him. Also, He deals with every one of us differently. He knows your struggles in hearing Him, so as you engage Him, leave it up to Him to find any means possible to get His Word through to you.
If you capture those 2 attitudes, there’s going to be progress in the way you move your life, because you’ll notice that how you expected to hear Him is actually far different, but now you have testimonies of how He is leading your life, and yet you may still not be 100% sure that you’re hearing Him. Weird; right, but that’s how we begin living a Spirit-led life, and more understanding comes as we progress.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I thank You because of the assurance You have for me in Isaiah 30:21 that I will hear Your Voice every time. I thank You that I won’t be limited again thinking that if I talk to You I may not hear You when You respond. I choose to trust You as I do my part, and I know You will never leave me frustrated. I Love You Lord!
