DAY ONE

Spiritual growth is not merely more Bible study, more prayer time or fasting. Discover the true meaning if spiritual growth, and why many Christians get it wrong.

15-20 Minutes | VIDEO, READING + PRAYER

WHAT IS SPIRITUAL GROWTH?

What does it actually mean to grow spiritually?

Take a moment and answer honestly: When you think of spiritual growth, what comes to your mind? Praying more, reading more Bible, becoming more holy, serving God more, having more spiritual experiences?

Well, none of those are wrong; but they are not the real destination.

These key scriptures reveal exactly what spiritual growth is:

Galatians 4:19 - “My little children, for whom I labor in birth again until Christ is formed in you.”

2 Corinthians 3:18 - “And we all… are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory…”

Romans 8:29 - “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…”

Ephesians 4:13 - “…until we all come… to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

Apostle Paul in these verses describes growth as Christ being formed in us to a measure that is even defined. This formation of Christ in us brings about the transformation of our thoughts, desires and actions from carnal to Christ-like.

A person can hear many sermons, know many scriptures, attend every church service, pray loud and soab while singing and still remain unchanged. The goal therefore, should not be to merely fill your schedule with spiritual things, but that through these very things, you are actually transformed.

Since transformation is more than just information or activity, it requires more than humanly effort. In fact, most people who are stressed in this area are trying to grow by their own book. But matter of fact, God's way is a simpler, more fulfilling and very achievable. Over the next days, we will discover how God designed spiritual growth to happen.

Key Thoughts In summary:

1. Spiritual growth is becoming more like Christ in the way you think and act. You start to treat people and situations how Jesus Himself would, if He was living on the earth today.

2. Spirtual growth is not measured by spiritual activity but by transformation.

3. If you're stressed on the journey of spiritual growth, you're likely not doing it God's way.

Today's Activation

Read today's Bible verses again and note down 3 ideas you get about spiritual growth.

Closing Prayer

Father, thank You for creating me for growth and transformation. Show me areas where I have mistaken activity for intimacy and information for transformation. Open my heart for what You want to teach me through this journey. Holy Spirit, I surrender myself to You moving forward with this journey, I'm willing to do it Your way in Jesus' Name, Amen.
